My work, mostly oil or acrylic, covers a wide range of subjects but tends to follow two themes. The first tells a story, often based on a fairy tale or mythology and usually with a humorous or dark side to it. The second is a more traditional art where I choose what appeals to me rather than any particular type of subject. For one reason or another I have developed a sideline in horse portraits. I paint to capture the nature or feel of a subject rather than a purely photographic likeness.
I have been painting for many years, originally outside of my main career, working in London. Now retired from the hustle and bustle and based in beautiful Sherborne, I am able to spend much more time in the studio.
My exhibitions and all events and exhibitions that I am involved in are on my website www.markpender-art.com. Anyone wishing to view my permanent studio exhibition, interested in a commission or other work or just wanting to pop in for a chat and a coffee, please contact me - details here or on my website.
