Originally from Ulverston, Lancashire, i studied art to 'A' level in Chester. It was to be another twenty years before i returned to college to attend an art foundation course, which was quickly followed by a move to Taunton where i studied textile and surface pattern design leaving with a first class honours degree in 1999. On leaving i decided to concentrate on painting rather than design and discovered watercolours. Since then i have been lucky enough to sell regularly both through galleries and at various shows and exhibitions such as Sherborne. I concentrate mainly on the landscape of somerset and cornwall being particularly drawn to wild untouched places. I like to try and capture the emotion of a place as well as the wonderful textures and colours we have on our doorsteps in this part of england. Watercolour is my chosen medium, i find it endlessly challenging and versatile and am determined to prove it is not 'wishy, washy' but can be bold and exciting.
I very much like to encourage others and run a watercolour class for beginners at my local village hall in Fivehead Somerset every friday morning
