I love drawing and believe it is an important creative skill which I combine in paintings with my love of colour and texture. I draw my inspiration from the local countryside and coast letting the painting lead the way on a journey of discovery until the final image emerges.

I gained a BA Degree in Fine Art and History of Art at Bristol University in the 1980's and an MA in Art Psychotherapy from Goldsmith's College, University of London in the 90's. Based in my studio on the border of Dorset and Somerset I am a painter whose aim is to explore and celebrate the wonder of the natural world.

My work, mostly oils or acrylic, covers a wide range of subjects but tends to follow two themes. The first tells a story, often based on a fairy tale or mythology and usually with a humorous or dark side to it. The second is a more traditional art where I choose my subject by what appeals to me rather than any particular type of subject, although I have developed a sideline in animal portraits, usually horses, and have painted commissions based on that.
